2015 Family Matters Conference Examines Depression

 

Dallas, TX…..  Galaxy Counseling Center announces its 16th Annual Family Matters Conference, The Many Faces of Depression, which will be held at and hosted by Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welborn Street, Dallas, Texas 75219, on Friday September 25, 2015. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m., and by close of conference at 4:15 p.m., mental health professionals will have had the opportunity to earn seven CEUs on topics such as art therapy, play therapy, ethics, mindfulness, pain and, of course, depression.

Our keynote speaker, Joel Holiner, M.D., is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology, with added qualifications in addiction psychiatry, and has actively served as a leader in the Dallas / Fort Worth psychiatric community for over 30 years. He currently serves as Executive Medical Director of Green Oaks Hospital and Chief of Psychiatry at Medical City Dallas Hospital, as well as Medical Director of The Holiner Psychiatric Group. At the conference opening session, Dr. Holiner will address the subject of treatment resistant depression.

Luncheon speaker, Richard C. Robinson, Ph.D., is Associate Professor in the Psychiatry department at UT Southwestern Medical School. Dr. Robinson will discuss the distinctions between emotional and physical pain.

The conference is presented by Galaxy Counseling Center. For 40 years, the center has provided compassionate and affordable mental health services to approximately 60,000 children, adults and families throughout our community. Behavioral health is essential to a healthy, balanced and productive life. Last year, Galaxy met the needs of almost 2,000 men, women and children ages 3 and older who had difficulties processing life’s changes and challenges. Our story is best told by our clients.

Registration is $65 for individuals registering before Sept.1. After Sept. 1, registration is $75. Groups of three or more pay $50 per person, and students pay $65. Registration fee includes conference admission, course materials, breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack.
