Intergenerational Day of Learning at Temple Shalom

On Sunday, January 31, Temple Shalom Religious School Students and their parents joined together for a fun-filled day of learning. Parents started their day with a delicious breakfast and a discussion with Rabbi Boxman about God and their personal beliefs. Then it was off to school. Parents and students spent the morning rotating through age appropriate “learning stations” all centered on the theme of God. The younger kids enjoyed decorating cookies that symbolized the seven days of creation, colored special glasses so they could “see” God in nature and learned about God’s creations while reading stories and singing songs.   Older students and their parents spent the morning at the “God Mall” where they explored different concepts relating to God and “purchased” God statements that resonated with them.  “Our Intergenerational Day of Learning was a big success! Not only did we tackle a difficult concept and really explored our personal beliefs in God, we got the chance to work together and learn inter-generationally.  It was a day we will never forget!” –Rabbi Boxman
