Most of you who have had kids in your home over the last generation are probably familiar with the TV network, Nickelodeon.  If the network name doesn’t ring a bell, surely “SpongeBob SquarePants” will.

Nickelodeon is an American basic cable and satellite television network with most of its programming aimed at children and adolescents.

Besides featuring the animated character, SpongeBob, who lives in the fictitious underwater city of Bikini Bottom, the network introduced us to shows like “The Fairly OddParents” and brought to life “The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”

A popular television network throughout the country shows like “Bella and the Bulldogs” and the TV series “School of Rock,” are currently being enjoyed by young teens.

A new show, “The HALO Effect” premiered this January. It features kids who inspire us to make this world a better place, creating The HALO Effect. HALO stands for helping and leading others.

Every month the show hosted by actress Sydney Park will feature incredible stories of kids who have used their passion and creativity to help those in need.

Another household name in our area—The Adams Sisters.  Isabelle and Katherine Adams have helped bring clean water to people around the world by making and selling origami ornaments.  Naming their project, Paper for Water, the young girls have raised $815,000 to date and have helped fund wells in ten countries including Ethiopia, Ghana, Liberia, India, Mexico, Peru and Nicaragua.

Numerous news articles have told the girls’ story and now they will be featured on Nickelodeon.

“Paper for Water” premieres Friday, June 17 at 8:30 p.m. Central Time.  The episode follows the Adams sisters as they create origami ornaments to raise money for a Navajo reservation in need of clean water in New Mexico.

“Paper for Water” will encore Monday, June 20, at 7:00 p.m. (CT) on Nicktoons and Saturday, June 25, at 8:30 p.m. (CT) on TeenNick.
