It’s “Hats Off to Fifty Years” as Alcuin Supporters Gather to Salute School’s Rich Heritage and Exciting Future

Today Alcuin, Dallas’ premier Montessori and International Baccalaureate school, announced plans to celebrate a half-century of inspiring, educating and empowering students with a special 50th Anniversary Gala Celebration on Saturday, March 29 at 7 p.m. at the Westin Park Central Hotel, 12720 Merit Dr. Visit: www.alcuinschool.org.

The festivities, led by Alcuin Alumna Parent Liz Goldreich, are themed “Alcuin Awe50me: Hats off to Fifty Years.”  Serving on the Alcuin Awe50me Honorary Gala Committee are Jean-Claude Saada, Laurie Matthews, Baron Ablon, Holly Mayer and Maria Magennis.

Organizers are planning an incredible evening that will commemorate Alcuin’s rich heritage beginning in 1964, while celebrating an exciting future as it launches the International Baccalaureate Upper School this fall.  The Alcuin Awe50me Gala will also offer an opportunity to honor those who have played an integral role in the school’s legacy, and recognize the current community who will take Alcuin forward into the next 50 years.

“This is going to be a fun-filled, festive event featuring dinner, dancing and a night full of surprises,” says Goldreich. “The attire for the evening will be casual with a bit of flair featuring the biggest, fanciest hat that our guests can find and show off that night.”

The evening’s highlights include a VIP Penthouse Pre-Party atop the Westin Park Central followed by a cocktail reception and fine dining.  Downtown Fever, an Emerald City Production, will provide a special musical performance as guests dance the night away or try their luck in the reverse raffle and hat contest. The entertainment will continue with a “Late Night Beam of Light” featuring spectacular views including a beam of light shining straight from the Alcuin School campus.

“We’ve encouraged our parents, faculty and staff to help make this gala particularly special by inviting guests that might not be directly associated with the school to help generate even more awareness and visibility for Alcuin,” said Goldreich.  “The public is welcome to attend and we’re also excited to see former parents, teachers and staff, as well as adult alumni and grandparents join in the festivities.”

Alcuin Awe50me Gala Sponsors include: ($25,000) - Kathy and Jamie Clark; ($15,000) – Charlie Munson and Keli Jones; The Saada Family; ($5,000) - ORIX Foundation, Texas Health Resources; ($2,500) – Jennifer & Fouad Bashour, Perkins + Will, Neiman-Marcus, Bala and Thana Shagrithaya; Wells Fargo; ($1,500) - Comerica Bank, MinuteMan Press; and ($1,000) - Hallam Foundation.

A vibrant, nurturing, coeducational academic community, Alcuin School uses the Montessori and International Baccalaureate program methods to foster critical thinking and a lifelong passion for learning.
