Wylie's Smith Library hosts Bandan Koro African Drum and Dance Ensemble, a high-energy, vibrant group of performers. This year's program, "Bandan Koro - Theater & History," features theatrical selections of traditionally based West African percussion and dance, along with presentations of traditional folklore by way of the "griot," or West African historian and storyteller.
The group formed in 2009 to study and share experiences associated with African culture and history through dance, music, and specialized presentations to foster a greater awareness, understanding, appreciation and respect for music, dance, and culture of Africans and African descendants around the world.
This presentation is suitable for adults and families; best suited to kids third grade and up. The program is free, but register at WylieTexas.gov/library. Smith Library is part of the Wylie Municipal Complex, 300 Country Club Rd., Bldg. 300, Wylie, TX 75098. For more information, call 972-516-6250.
