The Sundance Square Christmas tree lighting with Santa’s arrival is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22 after the Parade of Lights.

Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price, Fort Worth City Council Representative Ann Zadeh and Sundance Square President Johnny Campbell helped hoist a 59-foot blue spruce Christmas tree into place in the center of Sundance Square Plaza Monday, November 16.

The official tree lighting ceremony will take place Sunday, November 22 at 7:30 p.m.,immediately following the XTO Energy Parade of Lights. Designed with the community in mind, the tree lighting will feature Santa Claus' arrival, live music, strolling entertainment, as well as photo opportunities throughout the plaza.

“This year, we have nearly doubled the times Santa Claus will be in Sundance Square Plaza to greet kids of all ages,” said Tracy Gilmour, marketing director at Sundance Square. “We really wanted to shorten the wait time for our smallest guests who are always eager to see Saint Nick. We believe parents will really appreciate the expanded times.”

Holiday keepsake photos with Santa will be available for only $10 each (cash only) with the proceeds benefiting a scholarship fund established by the Fort Worth Sister Cities’ Youth Scholarships. Santa will be in Sundance Square beginning November 22 through December 22. Check www.sundancesquare.com for specific times.

The holiday fun will continue in Sundance Square Plaza with choirs from the Greater Fort Worth area schools performing on the Sundance Square Plaza Stage every Monday – Thursday from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. starting November 30 through December 17.  Choirs will be listed on Sundance Square’s website.

Sundance Square is also launching a free Friday Night Concert Series in the plaza with dates set for December 4, 11, and 18 from 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. December 4 will feature Gloria and Friends; December 11 Kevin Aldridge and the Appraisers; and Luke Wade, past contender on NBC’s seventh season of The Voice, is slated for Friday, December 18 from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.
