Free Admission with Online Ticket – Event Celebrates Knowledge and Fun At Participating Museum’s Nationwide

The Frontiers of Flight Museum, in association with the Smithsonian Institution, will open its doors free of charge along with over 1,400 other participating venues for  the ninth annual Museum Day Live! on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This immensely successful program, in which the Frontiers of Flight Museum will emulate the free admission policy of the Smithsonian Institution’s Washington, D.C.-based facilities, encourages learning and the spread of knowledge nationwide. The Frontiers of Flight Museum is located 6911 Lemmon Ave. 

Inclusive by design, Museum Day Live! fulfills the Smithsonian’s mission to make cultural education accessible to everyone. For one day only, the Frontiers of Flight Museum will grant free access to visitors who download a Museum Day Live! ticket at www.smithsonianmag.com/museumday. The ticket is good for two admissions on Sept. 28, 2013 only.

During Museum Day Live! guests at the Frontiers of Flight Museum will enjoy the Indoor Air Show featuring Dallas County’s best radio control model aircraft flyers! These dedicated hobbyists will demonstrate the flying capabilities of their electric-powered airplanes from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Also scheduled to appear is the award-winning 1954 Beechcraft E18S meticulously restored by local aviator Bill Signs. Visitors will be able to meet the owner and view this finely detailed classic “twin Beech” inside and out.

Aviation enthusiasts of all ages will also be entertained by the Museum’s Living History volunteers who will also be on hand, portraying famous aviation personalities with first-person accounts of their aerial adventures.
