Jump Into Summer at Lakehill

I know it is only February, and summer seems like a distant dream, but, here at Lakehill, summer camp preparations are in full swing! Calendars are being set; camp descriptions are being finalized; and the Lakehill Summer Camps staff is busy planning a summer full of fun and adventure at both our newly enhanced Main Campus and the Environmental Science Center.

As this process unfolds, a single thought keeps coming back to me: I wish I were a kid again!

This year's camp lineup looks fabulous! STEM, Community Connections, LEGO Engineering, Destination Dallas, and other perennial favorites are all lined up and ready to go, but it's the newest camps that have me really excited!

Making Mosaics brings the most popular trend in crafting to Lakehill. Campers will explore paper and tile mosaics, creating patterns and scenes one colorful piece at a time. The Chicken Coop for our younger campers builds on one of kindergarten's favorite activities, hatching real chicken eggs! Campers will get to see and touch live chickens across their life cycle, from egg to hen, as they learn more about life on the farm. Design, Build, and Destroy is a hands-on look at engineering as campers learn about the most stable ways to build structures, then test their creation's ability to withstand catastrophic force. Will their designs have what it takes to stay standing, or will they cave under the pressure? And then there's Eek! Bugs!, the camp I would have signed up for first as a kid. Campers will learn to collect, identify, and pin insects, spiders, and other arthropods at this creepy crawly camp at Lakehill's Environmental Science Center.

Take a look at our just-released Summer Camps Guide. Camp registration goes live on February 24. And, sorry...these camps are only for kids!
