Lakehill Preparatory School junior Vanya Suchan recently had an essay that she completed for her A.P. American Literature class accepted to the Adelaide Literary Magazine, a professional literary journal. Those reading her article are professional academics and specialists in the field. Her writing, according to the journal, is of post-graduate quality. Suchan wrote and work-shopped her paper in her junior English class over the period of several months and then submitted it to a number of journals. It will be published both in print and digitally in their next volume.

"In her to-be published paper, Ms. Suchan's creative and literary voice grapples with the essential difficulties of human existence through negotiating a dialogue between the beatnik poet Allen Ginsberg's 'Howl' and film director May Harron's American Psycho," said English teacher Michael Jones. "I am happy and humbled to have had the opportunity to work with such a talented thinker and writer on this project."

"I have known for a long time that I want to be a writer," said Suchan. "This process really solidified that desire for me and gave me confidence that I can make it in the world as a writer. There's a saying that if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life. Nothing would make me happier than doing this."

Suchan was previously published in The Dallas Morning News as part of their Storytellers without Borders program for young journalists.
