Teens, grades six through 12 only, are invited to head for Wylie's Smith Public Library this summer for fun and interesting programs! Most teen classes are from 3 to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Registration is required and opens two weeks prior to the program date. Click on the link on the Teen Page at WylieTexas.gov/library. Space may be limited. All programs take place in the Multi-Purpose Room unless otherwise noted.
Here's what's happening ...
June 13: Tinkercad -- Learn the basics of 3D printing using this app and leave with plans for your very own creation. Two class times offered: one at 3 p.m. and one at 4 p.m. Please register for one class only! This class meets in the Computer Lab.
June 14: Art Explosion -- Create unique art by repurposing unwanted paintings. All supplies provided.
June 20: Writing Fan Fiction -- With award-winning author E. Ardell, explore the online world of Fan Fiction where fictional characters are given new life. There will also be prizes and giveaways!
June 21: Cupcake Wars -- Hands On Design Cakes will teach you the basics of cupcake decorating so you can create a design for the ultimate baking competition. This program is repeated in July; please register for one only.
June 27: Perot Museum Amusement Park Physics -- Learn how physics plays a role in your favorite amusement park rides. Two class times offered: one at 3 p.m. and one at 4 p.m. Please register for one class only!
June 28: Mural Workshop with Wythdraw Art Community -- Wylie's own community art program, Wythdraw, will help us develop a mural that will be displayed in the library!
July 5: Teen DIY Craft Party -- Not your mom's craft class! come learn how to needlepoint and create a portrait of a pet, a loved one -- or anything! Upcycle an old T-shirt into a reusable shopping bag or make a lanyard using traditional sewing techniques.
July 11: Canvas Vandals - Learn the history of street art, how to make a stencil, and spray paint techniques and create an original piece of artwork with the skills you learn.
July 12: Cupcake Wars -- Hands On Design Cakes will teach you the basics of cupcake decorating so you can create a design for the ultimate baking competition. If you participated in this program in June, please do not register for this session.
July 18: Mystery Writing Workshop -- Local author, Natalie Merheb, will be here to divulge the secrets to writing an excellent mystery. There will be prizes and giveaways!
July 19: Totally RAD Ultimate '90s Party -- Join us as we turn back time for a totally RAD '90s party! Costumes from the '90s encouraged!
