Lakehill Preparatory School's Varsity Soccer team wrapped up November and moved into December with two decisive victories.

The Warriors defeated Southwest Christian, 6-1, on November 30. Ben Gillman and Luka Varnes traded goals throughout the first 20 minutes of the game, taking Lakehill to an early 5-0 lead. The Warriors kept that lead through the rest of the game with the lone Southwest Christian goal coming on a penalty kick.

Gillman led the team with four goals, while Varnes had two. Justin Reed and Abby Saldivar were strong on defense, while Kyeser Hall and Sydney Rutherford dominated the midfield. Spencer Neill had an outstanding game in goal.

The Warriors claimed another victory on December 3, against Covenant. Varnes and Logan Stout scored goals in the first three minutes to give Lakehill an early lead. Gillman added a goal late in the first, to make it 3-0 at half. Covenant scored on a penalty kick in the second half, but Lakehill added two more goals, finishing the game 5-1. This included another goal from Gillman and a spectacular 30-yard strike from Loveth Heard that had the Lakehill student section on their feet. Leo Paparoni and Michelle Reed led the defense, while Henry Hopkins and Tristan Leach were strong in the midfield.

About Lakehill Preparatory School

At Lakehill Preparatory School, we know that bigger is not always better. Lakehill is -- and always has been -- small by design.

Our school combines a strong, engaging academic program with a kind and inclusive community. A small student body offers a greater opportunity for each student to experience academic and leadership growth. Students develop a strong sense of belonging, and pride in their community, their school, and themselves.

Community spirit is encouraged in our small school environment. Strong relationships develop between home and school, and school leaders are far more involved with individual students than in a larger school setting. Lakehill staff pride themselves on knowing every child by name.

Lakehill builds an atmosphere of respect, accountability, collaboration, and mentoring between students and teachers, and provides the resources and learning opportunities that empower students to be architects of their own education.
