Join us this Saturday, September 27 for the inaugural The Big Run at Sylvan | Thirty, a soon-to-be-complete retail, dining and residential development at the crossroads of West Dallas & Oak Cliff (located between Fort Worth Avenue and Interstate 30 on Sylvan Avenue, one exit west of downtown Dallas).

Proceeds from The Big Run benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters.

The Lab will be offering post-race entertainment.

"Special Effects Camp"

Monday, November 24 - Wednesday, November 26

Lights, Camera, Action! This camp will demonstrate the Science of your favorite movies, video games and cartoons. Campers will choose their own activities from a list. Some examples: Frozen-themed chemistry, building real-life Minecraft structures, and launching Angry Birds. Disco dancing, light bending, and cinematic special effects are all exposed at this camp, too. Hang in the “Black Light Room” for even more fun. Camp will end with a full-blown Laser Dance Party.

($180, or $75 per day. Must preregister and prepay.)

Camps run 9:30am – 2:00pm (Extended Day option available for an additional fee.)

Snacks provided. Campers should bring a lunch each day.

Programming best suited for 4-10 years of age.

Camp is Located in the gym/lounge at North Park Presbyterian Church (I-75 and Walnut Hill)

Many of you know about The Lab's monthly service project for homeless kids. Here is a reminder about our September project. If you aren't busy after school, join us. It's best to visit the link below to sign-up, or you can just come at 4:00pm today!

Since 1986, Family Gateway has been uniquely focused on family homelessness, offering over 8,300 children and their parents the help they need to recover from crisis and make positive choices for their future.

Volunteers will tour the homeless shelter, learn about homelessness, then join the children living at the Family Gateway for fun science experiments with Mess Wright.

Appropriate for children ages 5 and up.
Project Fee: $10 per child.
