How to Use an Essential Oil Diffuser
Diffusers are used to help you reap the benefit of essential oil aromatherapy in any room of your home. They work to disperse the aroma of the oils throughout the room. It only takes a small amount to diffuse the scent through a large area of your room and the smell lasts much longer than other air and room fresheners, and without dangerous chemicals.
It’s very simple to use. All you need to do is fill your diffuser using clean, room-temperature water. Make sure you don’t overfill, using the fill line on your diffuser as a guide. Then you add 5-12 drops of essential oils, depending on the oil you’re using and the type of diffuser. You can add more oil if you’re going for a stronger scent. You can experiment to see what works best for your needs. If it doesn’t feel like enough, try a few more drops.
Caring for Your Essential Oil Diffuser
Using your diffuser is pretty simple but taking care of it is going to be the very important part. Here are some tips for cleaning your diffuser:
- Always clean the nozzle before switching oils so you don’t have residue from the old oil.
- Rinse the nozzle with clean tap water. If it needs a deep cleaning, you can submerge the top in alcohol for a few minutes to release any residue or gunk that may have built up.
- You should always unplug before cleaning and unplug after use.
- Clean the inside of your water tank regularly as well, so fungus and bacteria don’t grow inside the water tank.
- Never use harsh cleaners on your diffuser.
Diffusers are great to use in the office, in your bedroom, in the living room while relaxing with the family, in a spa room, and pretty much anywhere else you’ll be lounging or working. You can use nighttime blends to help you relax and get ready for bed, or blends to perk you up when you start your day in the morning, and just about anything in between. You can use blends to help when you are suffering from a cold, or allergies, for example.
Sometimes finding the right oils or the right blends is the most important and fun part of using your diffusers. There are so many different types, colors, shapes, and sizes of essential oil diffusers to choose from today, you’re sure to find some that meet your needs and expectations.
