Favorite Holiday Food

I am an Invisalign Teen® brand spokesperson and all opinions expressed are my own.

The holidays are filled with family, fun and food!  Holiday food is the centerpiece of all our celebrations, yet when you are in the middle of teeth straightening treatment it can put a damper on what you CAN eat.

Except that I have Invisalign clear aligners instead of traditional metal wire and bracket braces.  What does this mean for me?  It means that since the clear aligners are removable, there are no food restrictions!

So, while those at the celebrations are avoiding some of my favorite foods, all I have to do is simply remove my clear aligners and head for the buffet.  This has come in so handy for me as an adult when I have a party that I need to attend and I don’t want to bring attention to my teeth!  For teens, this can be a big confidence booster because they have the freedom to eat what they want and aren’t forced into limiting what they eat in front of their peers.  And, because the aligners are removable, brushing and flossing is easy for proper oral hygiene (a big plus for mom!).

Favorite Holiday Recipes

Many of my favorite holiday foods are sticky, hard and super sweet – all things that are not recommended for folks with traditional metal braces.

Here are some of my favorite yummy (and sticky!) recipes!

Christmas White Chocolate-Peppermint Popcorn – This is from The Kitchen is My Playground and has several of my favorite holiday things all wrapped up in one recipe.  Popcorn!  Chocolate!  Peppermint!  And it would make an amazing gift if you whipped up a big batch for friends.

Pecan Pie Bars – If you are from the South, this is an obvious holiday choice.  No self-respecting party would be complete without this pie staple.  I love this version from Princess Pinky Girl that turns it into gooey bars.

Holiday Caramels – Not only is this recipe from How Does She amazingly delicious, but it is easy too!  These take just 15 minutes when you use the microwave and work great as a hostess gift.

DIY Trail Mix – This is one of my family’s favorites.  It is completely customizable and can be adapted to each family member’s taste.  It is the best on-the-go snack companion during busy holiday times.

Apple Pie Candy Apples – OK, so I love a good candy apple.  It really is the best combination of all things sweet and natural!  This recipe from No Biggie continues the apple goodness with an apple pie version.

Yep, each and every one of those recipes have ingredients that are off-limits to those wearing traditional braces, but are completely fine to eat when in Invisalign treatment.  Check here for more information on how Invisalign Teen clear aligners can straighten your teen’s teeth without the embarrassment of metal braces, and the best part, eating their favorite foods in the process!

Kids Activities Blog is excited to be working with the maker’s of Invisalign Teen clear aligners again this year.  Holly Homer is an Invisalign Teen brand spokesperson and thrilled to be talking about her Invisalign treatment experience as well as starting a new Invisalign Teen clear aligners journey with one of her boys.   All opinions expressed are her own.  Full disclosure.
