The Episcopal School of Dallas will host a talk by New York Times bestseller and esteemed child psychologist Michael G. Thompson on Monday, Nov. 12 from 7 to 8 p.m.

Thompson, whose most recent book is Homesick and Happy: How Time Away From Parents Can Help a Child Grow, will be addressing the youth development benefits of summer camp and why he believes that a summer camp experience is an ideal educational complement to the traditional school year.

Thompson will describe away-from-home experiences — excitement, fears and growth — of situations that instill confidence and independence, and why these attributes are predictors of success in school and later life.

The event, sponsored by Camp Champions, is free and open to the public. Find out more about Thompson and his work on his website.
