The Dallas Museum of Art will discuss this tusk from the African coast tomorrow during the gallery lunchtime talk at 12:15 p.m.

 

The Dallas Museum of Art will host it's free first Tuesday next week on June 5. Head to the Arts District and escape from the heat inside the DMA with free general admission from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Families can hang out with Radio Disney, tour the Museum’s collection, create art that “pops” in the studio, watch a performance by Le Theatre Marionette, and more from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Tomorrow, Dr. Rosly Walker will guide DMA guests through the museum's newest installation: Souvenir: A Carved Tusk from the Loango Coast of Africa, at the May 30 lunchtime gallery talk at 12:15 p.m. The tusk will make it's first debut in the museum since becoming a part of the DMA collection more than 40 years ago.

Wednesday, June 6 kicks off our mid[we]ek Wednesdays at the DMA. Family friendly activities will be offered throughout the day Wednesdays in June and July including family films, interactive gallery tours, sketching in the gallery, and story time. All events are included in general admission and children under 12 are always free.
 
Thursday, June 7 is the first extended Jazz in the Atrium concert with Javier Gutierrez & MosaicJazz will continue until 8:30 p.m. through the end of August. Magdalena Grohman will lead Thursday’s Artistic Encounters Think Creatively: Transformative Minds—Train of Thoughts at 6:30 p.m. with guest artist Ava Wilson.
 
Saturday, June 9 is the second annual BooksmART Festival.  Spend the day with authors, illustrators, musicians, and actors, and enjoy talks, workshops, gallery tours, and entertainment designed to appeal to every member of the family and every age group.
