Get a friendly Texas welcome at the Dallas Museum of Art July 5 at the "Howdy Texas" themed free First Tuesday event.

From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., patrons and children can peruse the DMA's collections for absolutely free, as well as participate in several Texas-themed activities at the museum.

11:00 a.m. – Noon, Fleischner Courtyard
Make a work of art using the power of the sun! Arrange nature objects on photo-sensitive paper to create a unique design. Limit one per child. In case of inclement weather, this activity will be canceled.

Drop in and add your signature style to a bandana to wear home.

Let the Texas landscape inspire you to become a character with tips from our friends at the Dallas Theater Center as they lead acting workshops for ages 8 and up.

Texas Treasures scavenger hunt
1:30 – 3:30 p.m., Pick up your scavenger hunt at the Center for Creative Connections entrance
Follow the clues to explore the museum’s galleries and learn fun facts about the art. Bring your completed sheet back to the Center for Creative Connections and receive a prize!

2:00 – 4:00 p.m., American Art galleries, Level 4 landing
Spend time sketching from original works of art with artist Solange Mariel. All supplies provided.
Yogiños: Yoga for Youth®
3:00 – 3:45 p.m., Crow Collection of Asian Art
Meet at the entrance of C3 to follow a DMA staff person to the Crow.
Families can join certified Yogiños instructors for fun yoga classes weaving stories from works of art, music, and the 8 limbs of yoga. Yogiños is limited to the first 30 children.
