Providence Geography Bee Winners. Scott Raybourn, Mason DeLoache, Drew Messick, and Jackson Mechem.

On Jan. 15, ten students from Classes Four through Six competed in the Providence Christian School geography bee for the chance to represent Providence at the state level National Geographic Bee. To qualify for the final competition, these students answered questions such as “Which country is not crossed by the Orange River—Lesotho, South Africa, or Central African Republic?” and “To visit the National Museum in Bamako and to take a boat trip on the Niger River, you would travel to what country?”

With five students from Class Four, Two from Class Five, and Three from Class Six, the competition was stiff.

Ultimately, Scott Raybourn, Class Six, took the top prize with Jackson Mechem, Class Six, placing second, and Drew Messick, Class Four, placing third.

Providence Headmaster Dr. Tony Jeffrey said, “A special thank you to Mason DeLoache for leading our Geography Club and to our contestants who made this a great event.”
