Preston Hollow Moms' Group is Giving Back Sunny KNocke, president of Preston Hollow Early Childhood Association, presents a donation check to LeeAnn Le Goff, Big Thought Individual Giving Manager.

The Preston Hollow Early Childhood Association (PHECA), a group of Preston Hollow and North Dallas parents with preschool-age children, is kicking off the 2012-2013 year with philanthropy top of mind.

This year under the direction of president Sunny Knocke, Preston Hollow Early Childhood Association will continue helping parents form friendships, playgroups and a strong parenting network, while also expanding its focus on its community giving program.

“With a network of more than 100 families, we thought it would be a great opportunity to give back to some of the organizations that provide resources to Dallas-area children,” said Sunny Knocke, PHECA president. “Whether educational or recreational, these children are in constant need of resources to enrich their lives and the well-being of our community.”

PHECA is partnering with Big Thought to provide funding for their learning programs which focus on bringing together creative learning and active engagement opportunities for children and families in the classroom, home and community.

“Partners such as the Preston Hollow Early Childhood Association are vital to our community. Community-based donors help us strengthen programming by providing additional needed resources to the children and families we serve,” said Greg MacPherson,
Director of Out of School Time Programs for Big Thought.

PHECA will also be contributing funds to the Dallas Public Library‘s Bookmarks at NorthPark Center and Preston Royal Branch, Community Partners of Dallas and the Preston Hollow Park.

For more than two decades PHECA has been fostering life-long friendships and parent networking, among many other benefits which include:

  • Monthly meetings with informative and educational speakers focusing on parenting, family, health
    and happiness.

  • Children’s Activities and Park Meet-Ups which provide wonderful opportunities to have fun with other parents and kids in the area.

  • Playgroups are set up so parents can meet kids the same age as their own children.

  • Book Club and Mom’s Night Out offer a more intimate setting for mothers to get to know one other. These kid-free nights give moms time to recharge with friends and adult conversation.

  • Monthly Newsletter helps members keep up with upcoming events.

  • Yahoo! Groups keeps members informed about PHECA sponsored events, referrals (contractors,
babysitters and nannies, etc.) and community-wide activities.
